giving a 45-year-old chair new life

For my beloved's birthday, her mum is paying for a very special chair
to be re-upholstered. We went into Shamrock Furniture in Edithvale
which specialises in '50s, '60s and '70s furniture yesterday to see if
we could start the ball rolling. So very exciting.

This is "the chair". It belonged to Heather's late-father, Don, who
passed away 40 years ago, so it has great sentimental value. It's
now Heather's but is in quite a state of disrepair. The chair was
purchased in the mid-sixties.

Above and below are a couple of examples of the work they do at
Shamrock Furniture. Derek is coming over to look at/quote/pick up
the chair on Tuesday night and we have to have our fabric choice
made by then. Stay tuned to see the end result. I can hardly wait.

  6. My other half re-upholsters chairs like this - I must do a blog post on them! Your chair will look so nice when it is done...completely different, but all the more special because of the sentimental value...can't wait to see it! :))
